I get it now

When I was young, I would demand for things it didn’t matter how much or how you could get it or even if it was possible

I asked for a pet for Dalmatian specifically for Christmas when I came down to see that plush one on top of the gifts instead of a smile, I wore a frown

I get it now

At the age of six my brain wasn’t fully developed. My mind had one track. There was no way I was gonna get we are trying to do for me.

At that age, money grows on trees, and there is no limit to the things that can be done. The world is oyster not a place of hardship and limitations.

I get it now.

You did the thing for me that money couldn’t buy you saw me. You heard me and you tried to meet me at that level.

Glue didn’t get it a little we never could, but little me took a photo of that morning in the dim light in my mind.

I get it now.

I look finally on that memory, especially at Christmas time and Mother’s Day of that time I came down to see the closest you could get to the Dalmatian that I wanted.

It’s black-and-white for sparkling gently in the Christmas tree glow. It red tongue hanging out it’s eyes wide and vibrant ready to say hello. I love you.

I get it now.

No matter what limitations money time or just practicality you always try to say you love me in the best way possible.

I get it now. I get it now.
